Last week, 39 members of the North Dakota Cancer Coalition met virtually for the annual all-member meeting.
Election of officers confirmed Julie Garden-Robinson as Chair and Maria Schmidt as Treasurer for two-year terms. Congratulations, Julie and Maria, and thank you for your commitment to the success of the Coalition!
One of the key components of affecting change at the community level across North Dakota is the work of subcontract grantees. The Department of Health Comprehensive Cancer Control Program awarded 14 subcontracts to organizations for the 2021-2022 contract year. Click here to see a video and review a brief summary of their work shared at the annual meeting.
Breakout sessions on four priority areas focused on activities that could be achieved by the Coalition membership in the upcoming year. The priority areas selected were breast cancer, colorectal cancer, skin cancer and survivorship. Facilitators led their session attendees through a discussion guide to explore activities, audiences, barriers/challenges, stakeholders, current resources available and next steps. Notes from each session are included in the meeting minutes located here.
An update on CDC funding of the Comprehensive Cancer Program for the next five years was provided citing significant cuts. More information will be coming from the Department of Health on how they plan to proceed.
The new Coalition logo and website were presented. New logo items are available to individual Coalition members by completing the following form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NDCC_Logo_Mailing.
